Alutiiq provides training to teach individuals and groups how to enhance the quality of life, and to develop the full potential of each individual, group and community in the society while making our communities better and safer places to live. Some of our course offerings are listed below:
Grant Writing
This practical grant writing course will provide the participant with the fundamental skills needed to research, develop, write and submit grant proposals. The participant will be presented with the concepts of grant development, the components of a grant, how to research and identify funding sources, and how to develop and submit a complete grant proposal to gain maximum benefit from this course; all participants must come to the course with a project idea or a funding announcement or request for proposal.
Lead and Seed
Lead & Seed offers a 2-day training, (LEAD) whereby participants learn and apply best strategies though SAMHSA’s 5 step strategic planning process. After the training, the trained leaders take action in their community (SEED), following their own logic model and action plans generated during the training. Motivational Interviewing
This course will provide a framework to assist with understanding motivational interviewing as an approach to treatment. Participants will have an ability to conceptualize clients in terms of the stages of change. Participants will develop a working knowledge of the stages of change in terms of the process of intentional behavior change. Participants will also identify tools and techniques to apply at each stage of change. They will also understand how to utilize motivational interviewing along the continuum of treatment, from the initiation of the therapeutic relationship to post-termination. Participants will be given the opportunity to proactively demonstrate and utilize techniques and tools discussed and presented in this course.
